ABOUT
Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A.
This was the first official LED Virtual Production project for the company. My team and I were tasked to re-create the whole of Los Angeles, as well as more detailed environments for specified locations within the area, for real-time use on an LED Volume Stage. The reason for this was to have reflections on the car as well as have
We had roughly a month to get the environments ready for shoot. We imported GIS and Terrain data from Blender into Unreal to be able to have the car fly through the whole of Los Angeles. We also created more detailed environments for Beverly Hills, The Hollywood Hills, Malibu, Downtown, and Randy’s Donuts, which was the finale location.
We worked with PRG as our LED Wall Provider. There were some challenges on set, which gave me an opportunity to learn methods of integrating Unreal to Disguise.
In the final 24 hours before we had to submit the final edit, we had an issue with our donut particle animations from C4D. So my team played with Niagara to develop the particles needed for the finale. We spent that time rendering all the remaining shots of the environment as well as the particles to go along with it.
