Demi Lovato Roku Live

ABOUT

Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A.

This project was a live-style music video performance for Demi Lovato in partnership with Roku, set inside a 2.5D version of Roku City. The concept placed Demi on a physical rooftop set while the surrounding city environment played across an LED volume using ICVFX.

I was brought onto the project late in the process to help prepare the Unreal Engine environment for the shoot. The creative direction required the Roku City artwork to be translated into a 2.5D environment that matched the established Roku visual identity, while also functioning correctly on an LED volume. I worked closely with the Roku team, their artists, and a remote artist in London to align the environment, organize media plates, and set up playback inside Unreal Engine.

A major part of my role was ensuring the content could be operated reliably on stage. I used Unreal Remote Control and the Stage App to coordinate timing with the playback team, allowing the LED volume content to stay in sync with the live performance setup. On the shoot day, I operated the Unreal environment and worked directly with the director and Roku team to calibrate framing, positioning, and timing against the physical rooftop set.

The production required quick adaptation under pressure, including last-minute changes to the performance setup and on-stage troubleshooting with the LED volume system. Despite the compressed timeline, we were able to get the environment aligned, calibrated, and ready for camera, blending the physical set with the Roku City background for the final performance.
